
Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), is a serious state that can develop after a person has experienced a distressing or frightening event in which serious physical harm occurred or was threatened.
PTSD is a lasting consequence of traumatic ordeals that cause strong fear, helplessness, or shocks, such as a sexual or physical assault, the unanticipated demise of a loved one, a mishap, war, or natural disaster.
