What are cervical polyps?

Cervical polyps are elongated tumors that grow on the cervix.  Cervix is the narrow, lower part of the uterus. Cervix connects the uterine cavity  and the vault or  upper part of the vagina.  It acts as the passageway for sperm to ascend from vagina through the uterine cavity, into the Fallopian tubes to fertilize an egg, resulting in pregnancy. During labor, the cervix becomes thinner and gets dilated, which allows the baby to pass through the birth canal.
